Indian opening batters Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma who usually make a solid start departs early after scoring just 2 and 15 runs respectively during the Champions Trophy 2025 clash against New Zealand in Dubai.

In the fifth delivery of the third over, Matt Henry bowled an inswinger while Gill shuffles closer a long way and is then beaten as the ball thuds onto the knee roll. Though Gill went for a review, the ball tracking showed three reds and confirmed his dismissal.

On the other hand, Indian captain Rohit Sharma lost his wicket to Kyle Jamieson in the sixth over. Jamieson bowled a short of a length delivery outside off while Rohit with the weight on the front foot looks to pull and the ball struck at the bottom of the bat. The ball carries over the head of Will Young at mid-wicket who takes it easily.

The 12th match of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was scheduled to be played between Mitchell Santner-led New Zealand and Rohit Sharma-led India on March 2 in Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai.

Indian opening batters Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill opened the inning and were expected to lay a strong foundation. But Matt Hendry in the third over, trapped Gill in an LBW dismissal and sent him for just two.

Following his dismissal, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli joined hands and faced the aggressive bowling attack from the Kiwis. Soon Indian captain Rohit Sharma too departs after scoring 15 off 17 balls. Jamieson dismissed Rohit for 15 in the first ball of the sixth over.
