A brilliant knock from Quinton de Kock and a spell from Romario Shepherd have set up MI New York’s thrilling 5-wicket victory against Seattle Orcas at Pomona.

Quinton de Kock’s (61) and a three-wicket haul from Romario Shepherd have set up MI New York to jump to the 2nd spot in the MLC 2026 Points table.

After being invited to bat first, MI New York’s Quinton de Kock and Monank Patel opened the innings while Marcus Stoinis opened the bowling attack.

With the dismissal of Monank Patel for duck by Ottneil Baartman, Quinton de Kock and Nicholas Pooran forged a partnership as MI New York scored 51 runs in the powerplay.

Marcus Stoinis bagged the wicket of Nicholas Pooran for 19 runs, and meanwhile, Quinton de Kock smashed a fifty and scored 61 runs off 46 deliveries before being dismissed by Stoinis.

Jasdeep Singh bagged his first wicket, dismissing Tajinder Dhillion for 23 runs, while Marcus Stoinis completed his third wicket by dismissing Shepherd for 1 run.

With the dismissal of Corbin Bosch and Kunwarjeet Singh’s cheap dismissal, Pollard lost his wicket for 12 runs as MI New York lost 8 wickets for 127 runs. By the end of 20 overs, MI New York scored 132 runs.

Marcus Stoinis bagged three wickets while Jasdeep Singh and Ottneil Baartman bagged two wickets each.

Chasing the 133-run target, Tim Seifert and Shayan Jahangir opened the innings while Trent Bout opened the bowling attack.

Trent Boult bagged the wicket of Jahangir for 8, while Corbin Bosch bagged the wicket of Breetzke for a duck.

With Tim Seifert and Jayasuriya at the crease, Orcas scored 29 runs in the power play. The Orcas line-up couldn’t stand up against the MINY bowlers as they lost wickets at intervals.

However, Marcus Stoinis did contribute, scoring 36 runs before being dismissed by Pollard.

Dasun Shanaka scored 11 runs before being dismissed on a runout. By the end of 20 overs, Seattle Orcas scored only 127 runs as they suffered a 5-run defeat.

Romario Shepherd bagged three wickets for the side while Trent Boult, Corbin Bosch, Rushil Ugarkar and Kieron Pollard bagged one wicket each.

Romario Shepherd was named as the Player of the Match. Speaking on the presentation, “Just keep it simple, try and hit the good length because the pitch is offering so much. All you have to do is be disciplined for a good length and make the batters play.”
