The South Africa spinner Keshav Maharaj has been ruled out of the remainder of the England T20Is due to a groin injury.
Bjorn Fortuin has been named as his replacement, who has returned to the squad after last featuring in a T20I in September 2024. Notably, Maharaj missed the first T20I of the South Africa tour of England 2025.
Lungi Ngidi who is an intergral part of the squad, is also ruled out of the series, owing to an injury. He has returned to home on Thursday and now will be racing against time ahead of the test series against Pakistan on October 12.
To bolster theri pace attack, left arm Nandre Burder has been called up and will be available for the second T20I at Old Trafford on Friday.
The injury has already gone big when David Miller was withdrawn from the squad, following a hamstring issue sustained during the final week of the Hundred.
Despite, the Proteas had a comfortable 14-run victory in the rain affected game of the series in Manchester.

Bjorn Fortuin has played 75 T20Is for South Africa and has picked 20 wickets at an economy rate of 7.91. He last played for Hampshire in the Vitality Blast before playing for Seattle Orcas in the MLC.
