England bowlers shines in victory against Oman

England bowlers played a massive role in their maiden victory of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. England registered their first victory of the tournament against Oman played on June 13 in  Antigua.

England’s hopes of qualifying for Super 8 stayed alive with the 8 wickets victory. Archer, Wood and Adil played a massive role in England’s humongous victory against Oman.

After their first match was abandoned by rain, England lost their second game by 36 runs against Australia and pushed to a danger zone. England were under pressure to win this game with a better run rate in order to stay alive in the Super 8 race.

As expected, England delivered an exceptional game and contained Oman for just 47 runs. England comfortably chased the target and registered an impressive win.

Speaking of the match, England won the toss and elected to bowl first. Namibia’s Pratik Athavale and Kashyap opened the bowling attack. England’s prime bowler Jofra Archer strikes earlier and bagged the wicket of Pratik Athavale in the second over.

Following his dismissal, Oman batters find it hard to face the aggressive bowling attack from England. Oman batters started to lose their wickets cheaply. Shoaib Khan’s 11 runs is the highest individual score for the Onam batters in the game.

Apart from Shoaib none of the batters reached the double-digit mark. On behalf of England, Adil Rashid bagged four wickets while Jofra Archer and Mark Wood bagged three wickets each.

England bowlers contained Oman for just 47 runs and ended the first inning in 13.2 overs. While chasing, England lost a couple of wickets and chased the target in just 3.1 overs. Captain Jos Buttler scored an unbeaten 24 off just 8 deliveries and grabbed the crucial win.

Chasing the target within four overs made a massive pump in the team’s net run rate which is essential for England to qualify for the Super 8.

England needs to win their last group match which was scheduled to be played against Nambia and hope Scotland to lose their game against Australia set to be played on June 16.

If England loses their game against Namibia, then Scotland will advance to the Super 8 while a decent win will push them beyond Scotland’s run rate. If Scotland wins their game against Australia, then England will be eliminated from the race while Scotland will advance to the Super 8 round.

England will play their final group match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 against Namibia on June 15 in Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua.
