The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that the Cricket World Cup 2027 schedule will be unveiled in Cape Town on October 01.
The event will mark the one-year countdown to the tournament and will also see the release of tickets for the games. As per reports, the World Cup will begin on October 02, next year, while the tournament will conclude on November 21, 2027.
Ten out of 14 teams participate in the World Cup will have been identified by September 30, the cut-off date for qualification.
Two of them will be the hosts, South Africa and Zimbabwe, while the other eight will be based on the ICC ODI team rankings.
The remaining four teams will come through the qualifiers and will be listed in the schedule as Qualifier 01, 02, 03, and 04. Apart from South Africa and Zimbabwe, Namibia is also a host country, but its qualification is not yet assured.
As of now, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Australia, England, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh are the eight teams in line to make it to the main event of the World Cup 2027.
Despite sitting in the ninth position, Bangladesh will likely qualify as host; South Africa is an automatic qualifier.

In July 2026, the ICC has officially approved the overhaul of the Men’s ODI World Cup. The tournament will adopt a new three-stage competition format.
Under the new format, the tournament will begin with a super series involving the teams ranked 12th, 13th and 14th in the qualification. The successful team will join the 11 qualified teams in the second phase, where the two groups of six teams will contest 30 games.
The top three teams from each group, along with the next highest placed teams across both groups, will qualify for the newly introduced Super 7 stage.
The Super 7 will see all the qualifying teams play each other in a single round-robin comprising 21 matches. The top four teams will progress to the semifinals.
The top four teams will progress to the semifinals, with the first- and fourth-ranked teams and the second- and third-placed teams to determine the finalists of the ICC event.
