Former Cricketer Ambati Rayudu has opened up on Virat Kohli‘s return in the Ranji Trophy after a span of 13 years and made a big statement saying that the veteran doesn’t need the tournament.

He added that India’s batting great needs time to ‘feel good about everything again’. He also urged fans to ‘leave him alone.’ Despite his did not succeed scoring only 6 runs in 15 balls in the only innings he played, Delhi was able to secure an incredible win.

Taking to the X, Ambati Rayudu said that the ‘Spark will ignite on its own’ and people must ‘respect and believe in him’.

“Right now Virat Kohli doesn’t need Ranji. His technique was good for 81 hundreds and it will be good going forward as well. No one should force him into forcing himself for anything.”

“He needs time to feel good about everything again. The spark within will ignite on its own. Basically respect and believe in him, most importantly leave him alone,” Rayudu wrote on X.

Virat Kohli has been struggling with a dip in his form in tests that dates back to the start of 2020. In 39 test matches he played since 2020, he scored only 2028 runs at an average of 30.72 which has only three centuries and nine fifties to show.

Virat ended the ongoing WTC cycle with the 751 runs in 14 matches at an average of 32.65, with two centuries and two fifties.

Meanwhile Virat ended the last year with just 655 international runs in 23 matches and 32 innings averaging 21.83 with a century and two fifties to his name.

In 10 tests, he scored just 417 runs at an average of 24.52 with just one century and fifty to conclude a disappointing year.

Rayudu has clearly stated that Kohli’s abilities haven’t diminished, and it’s only a matter of time before his form returns. The cricketer’s plea for privacy and support highlights the importance of allowing Kohli to focus on his game without added pressure.
