Day 01
- Batting first, South Africa made a solid start with every batters making contribution. By the end of day 01, South Africa scored 247 runs for 6 wickets.
- Indian bowlers were in control on day 01 at Guwahati. The visitors lost six wickets with Kuldeep Yadav picked three wickets, while Jadeja, Bumrah and Siraj picked one wicket each.
Day 02
- Resuming the game, Senuran Muthusamy’s century and Marco Jansen’s 93 run knock helped the side to post 489 run in their first innings.
- Kuldeep Yadav picked four wickets while Bumrah, Siraj and Jadeja picked two wickets each.
- Starting their innings, India went on to score 9 runs by the end of day 02.
Day 03
- Resuming the game on day 03, Jaiswal scored 50 runs, while others got dismissed cheaply. Despite Washington Sundar’s knock, India could make much of a difference.
- Marcon Jansen dismantled India’s batting lineup picking 6 wickets while Harmer picked three wickets for South Africa.
- Starting their second innings, South Africa scored 26 runs by the end of day 03 at Guwahati.
Day 04
- Resuming the game on day 04, South Africa made a decent start scoring 260 runs for 5 wickets before declaring the innings.
- Jadeja was saviour for India on day 04, picking four wickets.
- With a mammoth target, India started their second innings where they scored 27 runs for two wickets by the stumps on day 04.
Day 05
- Resuming the game on day 05, India got bowled out for 140 runs with Jadeja being the highest run scorer amassing 54 runs.
- However, Simon Harmer was the saviour for South Africa bagging 6 wickets while Keshav Maharaj picked 2 wickets.

Yeah, obviously, if you win any Test match, it’s a nice feeling. And winning a Test match and a Test series in India is also very special. Very well done to all the guys. Everyone put their hands up in critical situations.
And, yeah, just everyone put their hands up when we needed them. And, yeah, proper team performance. We just spoke about doing the simple things very well. And then just assessing the wicket and trying to figure out our plans.
