Reliance Industries Limited – the proud owner of Mumbai Indians unveils their name and brand identity for their two new franchises in UAE and Cricket South Africa’s T20 leagues.

Reliance Industries Limited have bagged the rights to own a team in both UAE’s International League T20 and in Cricket South Africa T20 League. The franchise have named their teams as  ‘MI Emirates’ in UAE’s International League T20 and ‘MI Cape Town’ in Cricket South Africa T20 League

The franchise also confirms that their jersey will adorn the iconic blue and gold of the team.

‘MI Emirates’ and ‘MI Cape Town’ – these names were chosen as they call out the specific regions from where the teams will be based. The teams, ‘MI Emirates’ or phonetically “MY Emirates” and ‘MY Cape Town’ respectively, are dedicated to fans across both the Emirates and Cape Town.

The new entities take the iconic Mumbai Indians identity and weaves in the local influence. The global expansion of #OneFamily will bring to the leagues the ethos and the values that have helped elevate Mumbai Indians to be one of the most loved teams in franchise cricket.

MI Cape Town – Players Signings

Later the MI management confirmed the signings with additional information that Dewald Brevis is the uncapped player in their five permitted retentions.

“I’m excited as we begin our journey in building “MI Cape Town”. With our direct player signings, we have taken the first step towards building the MI philosophy — having a strong core around which the team will be planned.
